It all started when my father Bill Tracy, purchased an XK120 back in 1967. He wanted to restore the car. Jaguar had some parts, but mostly mechanical. He began the search for people that he could work with in producing the parts he needed. Bill found a metal spinner in Indiana, wood working in the Carolinas and the biggest find was the castings in Rhode Island. My father never knew that Rhode Island was the casting mecca of the world. He made more than what he needed and so he started supplying people like XK's Unlimited, Welsh Enterprises and Moss Motors. He was determined to keep his business small and only stock the parts for XK120-140-150 Jaguars while keeping his day job as a pilot with USAir.
As he grew the business, Bill was put onto some very exotic Jaguars. He purchased an XKSS No. 719, Then on a trip to the UK, he stopped by Hamilton's place and the owner convinced my father that an "American" should buy the Cunningham Light Weight "E" 5114WK. (Seen on the cover of "Vintage Motorsport" Sep/Oct 2010 issue) Then he bought No. 18 "C" type Jaguar. He later found out that the original owner was Multiple World F1 Champion Juan Manuel Fangio. Bill later purchased another "C" type No. 23 from a gentleman in California. "Wish now that I had kept them all", my father keeps stating. My father is truly a gifted man when it comes to restoring his Jaguars and Ferrari's.
I grew up stuffing his parts catalogs in envelopes, putting together small parts, and when needed, pumping the break pad up and down while he worked on one of his Jaguars from underneath. Who would have ever thought I would be selling some of those same parts I put together when I was a young girl. Over the years, my father made all sorts of contacts to make headlights, grills, bumpers, what ever required making. He has great insight as to what people need for their cars. Some of those parts are on my EBay account Tracy22309 and soon my website. We carry British car parts to fit Jaguar XK120-140-150, XKE, XKS, XK8, XKR, Austin-Healey, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Porsche, Ferrari and many other cars from the 1950's - present.
As all good family businesses turn out, I have come to assist my father in his truly "international" business. I never thought I would be selling car parts. With the closing of my mortgage lending company during the financial meltdown, the parts business became a blessing. While I maybe a women, I still love classic cars. It's in the Tracy genes!
